Gary Hickey

Gary brings more than 25 years of information technology experience. He has a proven track record in seeing the big pictures across multiple systems and platforms especially as it applies to the back-end systems for financials, manufacturing, supply chain, human resources, client relationship management, B2B, and sales force automation.

Earlier in his career, Gary led IT teams for large companies, including Russ Berrie and Pepsi Cola where he was responsible for the corporate administration of wide area network, Windows, Unix, enterprise resource planning (ERP), database systems administration, as well as all aspects of their global IT infrastructure.

Gary’s versatility, knowledge, and industry expertise has enabled him to develop automation and machine control and wind tunnel simulation software for two companies which he founded.

Since joining YGC in 2011 as the Systems Administrator, Gary now leads a team of specialists in overseeing Vertican’s systems administration of corporate networks, as well as 24×7 support for desktops and servers, data communications, and database and application administration. He also manages operations and the support desk which provides job scheduling, backups, and systems monitoring. He continually analyzes new technologies to improve business processes and cost efficiency. Gary and his team maintain security on all corporate systems, and Vertican’s corporate Disaster Recovery plan. As a Security Officer on the committee to establish policies and training, Gary’s team continually monitors, tests, assesses, and guards for vulnerabilities to protect both client and Vertican data.

Most recently, Gary led the migration of Vertican’s long-running YGC original data center in conjunction with multi-server upgrades and the total migration to Azure, a pivotal component to the company’s scaling into cloud technology.

On the personal side, Gary likes to spend his spare time hiking and watching British mysteries.
